Baseball splits doubleheader with Bowdoin

BRISTOL, R.I.- The Roger Williams University baseball team faced Bowdoin College in a doubleheader Monday in Chandler, Ariz., winning the first game 14-1 before suffering its first loss of the season, 5-2.

Hawks sophomore Dan Roberge (Oakdale, Conn.) pitched the full seven innings in the first game to earn the win. The 6-2 right-hander allowed just one earned run on five hits while striking out five along the way.

Offensively, junior Andrew Haycock (Medfield, Mass.) hit 2-for-3 in the game, including a triple. He scored two runs and also batted-in two RBI. Classmate Jamie Dahill (South Boston, Mass.) went 2-for-4 at the plate, scoring two runs and knocking in two RBI.

Dahill remained hot In the day's second game recording a double, a stolen base and a run scored. Sophomore Grant Bolin (Simsbury, Conn.) also hit well, going 2-for-2 at bat.

With the split RWU moves to 5-1 on the season, while Bowdoin moves to 5-3. The Hawks next game is Thursday when they face Hamline University in a doubleheader beginning at 12 noon.
